The last Friday 18th May, it was carried out the First Spelling Bee Contest by our School. The competition was divided in four categories and the jury was in charged of Adrian Toro Cayul, distinguished English teacher from Héroes de Atacama High School, Didier Aguilar Muñoz and Rossana Gómez, professors from The Language Department, from The University of Atacama.
In the first category, there were students from 2nd grades and their names were: Mariana Reyes Rodríguez, Josefa Pizarro Lutz, Tomás González Guerrero y Alan Vidal Escobar, being the winner, Alan Vidal Escobar from 2nd grader C.
In the second category, there were students from 3rd and 4th grades and their names were: Ignacia Maldonado Bugueño from 3rd grade, Aracelli Miranda Erazo, Esteban Mujica Venegas, José Cortés Abarca y Brandon Martínez Rivadeneira from 4th grades, obtaining the 1st place, Brandon Martínez Rivadeneira student from 4th grade B.
In the third category, there were students from 5ht and 6th grades and their names were: Ara Capona Chirinos, Martina Marín Gutiérrez y Valentina Villalobos Pérez, and Alexander Valderrama Villegas students from 5th grades, Martín Úbeda Ordenes, Nora Salinas Orellana and Octavio Carrasco Barrera, students from 6th grades, obtaining the 1st place, Octavio Carrasco Barrera, student from 6th grade B.
The last category, fourth category, there were students from 7th and 8th grades and their names were: José Tomás Marín Gutiérrez, Sebastián Vallejo Araya, Matilde Cano Lorca y Tomás Ramos Arredondo, students from7th grades and Franko Pastén Espinosa, student from 8th grade A, obtaining the 1st place, Matilde Cano Lorca, student from 7th grade B.
Finally, Buen Pastor School, through the English Department, we would like to thank to all the parents, teachers and students for their effort and support in our activity, which was a total success and the winners are going to represent us in the Third Comunal Spelling Bee Contest, organised by The English Network “English is Flowering in the Middle of the Desert, ”on Wednesday 20th June in our School.
